The cocoa butter melt and pour is without a doubt amazing! My customers really like the olive oil soap and I am sure that this will be a huge hit, especially with the fragrance oils that I just purchased.

I tried using the Cocoa Butter Melt and Pour Soap Base for the first time and it formed a skin before the individual cubes even melted all the way so when I poured it into the mold i ended up with skin chunks in my soap... and it was a little bit drying the first few times I used it!! But after a few washes it became less drying, and still has an ok lather... I think I would give it another try though!!!!
FNWL Response

Akilah, from your description, it sounds like you're heating the soap base at too high a temperature and/or leaving it on the stove too long without stirring. Use a double boiler to gently heat the base, and stir frequently. Don't leave the base heating on the stove after it's fully melted or it will dry out and form a skin.

Very hard to work with. Skins over very fast.

Mark, I frequently work with our M&P bases and I do NOT experience the situation you describe and other customers aren't expressing the same situation. It sounds like you're overheating the bases. Try melting them at a lower setting and be sure you are using a double boiler. As an added tip, avoid using the microwave as that can dry out the soap.

Another great product! Combined with the Shea Butter Base Opaque, Skin Nourishing Blend and the Coconut bases, you can't blend a better bar!

I'm normally not a melt & pour soap maker, as I prefer cold process soaping. But, your Cocoa Butter base, along with the Shea and Cold Cream bases, are excellent and are favorites with my customers. When I do have these M&P soaps at craft shows, they sell out FAST! The base produces a hard bar that lathers like crazy. Also, the base doesn't have any funny odors, so it takes up the fragrance oil very well. I do suggest that you follow FNWL recommendations and heat this base gently in a double-boiler. I have the best results when doing so.
